Vendor Spotlight: Julie Allen Bridals

We are happy to be able to shine the light this week on Julie Allen Bridals.  This family owned and operated company was started out the owner’s home in 1970.  Since then, they have grown enough to be located in a 7,400 square foo commercial building here in Newton, Connecticut.

Such a well established and successful business doesn’t happen on accident.  We credit the success of this bridal shop to staying true to  the business philosophy of  its founder.  When she first went into business in 1970 it was with the idea of offering personal service and the best  possible choices to local brides.

Today when you shop at Julie Allen’s you will benefit from a well-educated staff who really care about you, the bride.  And at Julie Allen’s you will get to pick from Bridal wear from leading companies.

We offer ten fitting rooms and three European seamstresses to ensure your final choice fits perfectly.

We are proud to showcase such a well run and service oriented shop as Julie Allen’s.  We hope you will contact them soon and see what we mean.

Would You Split the Cost of the Engagement Ring?

One of the week’s big online debates has been whether or not a bride should split the cost of her engagement ring.

The supporters of splitting the cost argue that you can get a bigger ring if you split the cost. It also sets up the financial relationship that will need to carry through the rest of your wedding planning. As fewer couples have their parents paying for their weddings, the bride and groom themselves have to work out how to budget the wedding costs themselves. In this case, the engagement ring becomes part of this budgeting.

Those who are against splitting the cost see it as a non-traditional move, and unromantic. The engagement ring is something that is meant to be a surprise to the bride. When she pays for half of it, or even helps with the shopping, it takes that away. As a result, it lacks the romance of having him get down on one knee and pop the question.

What is your opinion on splitting the cost of the ring? If you’re planning your Connecticut wedding, you’ll want to meet the best vendors. Coming to one of our upcoming bridal shows is an excellent way to do your planning and loads of fun.
