Your Perfect Wedding Guest List

You’re engaged! This is a time of joy, but one that can be full of difficult decisions. Not least of these is who to invite to your big day. Coming up with your perfect wedding guest list can be a big challenge.

There are some no-brainers for your list, of course, but once that core list of family and friends is down, the real struggle begins. You’ll have a list of people you’d like to invite, and so will your fiance, and so will both of your parents, and probably a few friends. Before you know it, your list will be huge.

This is when it will be time to cut that list back. Before you go into this, you’ll want an idea of how big your venue is going to be, and how many guests you can realistically afford.

Go through and make your A list, your B list, and even a C and D list, if needed. Work on this with your fiance, since you’ll need to explain to people like your parents why some of their friends haven’t made the cut.

It’s important to remember that it’s your wedding day, and you should be happy with your guest list.

Whether you’ve got 25 guests or 250 guests, planning the perfect wedding can be much easier when you come to one of our excellent bridal shows. You’ll be able to meet plenty of vendors and have fun!

Bridesmaids Dresses – Trying to Please Everyone

The dresses worn by the bridesmaids for many brides to be will be an important part of planning their wedding. They not only need to fit with the color scheme but also with the style of the wedding itself and for most it is important that the bridesmaids fell comfortable in them.

There are a number of different options when choosing bridesmaids dresses:

  • You can pick one dress
  • Or have the bridesmaids help when picking the dress and have them all wear the same, this option ensures uniformity with your theme however not all of your bridesmaids may be happy with it.
  • Or you could pick a color or a selection of colors depending on your theme and a fabric and let your bridesmaids loose to choose their own style, this option still gives you the uniformity with your theme and allows the bridesmaids to be comfortable and put their own individual touch on what they wear.

At the end of the day it is your wedding and it’s up to you how much input you allow your bridesmaids to have in choosing their dresses, they are after all there to help you and make the process easier for you as opposed to complicating things but which ever route you choose to take, the Wedding Steps bridal shows can give you all the help and inspiration you need.

2013 Wedding Trend: The Return of Cake

After a few years of cupcakes and cake pops showing up at almost every wedding, it looks like wedding cakes are back. More couples are choosing to stick with tradition and are choosing tiers over individual servings.

Wedding Cakes

There are a few reasons for the shift. One is that couples really want the grandeur of a tiered wedding cake. A big wedding cake isn’t just dessert – it’s also a major part of a wedding’s décor. This means that while couples might spend more on the cake, they’re potentially spending less on other decorations.

Wedding cakes are also regaining popularity because couples don’t want to be part of a trend. By stepping away from trends like cupcakes and cake pops, couples are hoping their weddings will be timeless and classic.

This isn’t to say that cupcakes and cake pops are completely out this year. They’re still popular choices, and can be a cost-effective alternative, especially if you’re feeding a lot of guests. Other takes on the concept are also being used a lot more. These include donut towers, pie tables, and cookie tiers.
